My post today is about a story that I first heard about a couple of years ago. It went viral pretty quickly after reaching Youtube. It’s a moving speech delivered by the late Randy Pausch on achieving your childhood dreams. It left me with such a postive outlook on how to live my life to the fullest. Here, just watch and leave your thoughts on it.
Do Something Positive For Someone Else
Today I decided to do something that I wanted to do for the longest time. I decided to volunteer my time at a soup kitchen. The soup kitchen offers a free lunch to anyone in need of a hot meal. The best thing about the soup kitchen is that they only need someones’ time. I was able to give six hours of my morning to those who really needed it. I started in the kitchen by cutting up fresh fruit for the fruit salad. During the lunch hour I helped pass out coffee, water and milk. And at the end of lunch, I assisted with the clean-up of sweeping and mopping the floors. All of the patrons were very grateful for what the staff was doing. It really left me with that feeling that I was making a positive difference in someone’s day. I really want to return to the soup kitchen because of the impact that I was able to make. Regardless of what you do today or in the future, try and do something positive for someone. It may seem trivial to you, but to someone else, could mean so much more.
Just Be Honest
“Keeping small secrets gets you in the habit of hiding things from your partner and it is an easy lead in to lies on a larger scale.”
One of the easiest things to do in a relationship is to be honest. Trust and honesty go hand in hand in a relationship. Work from both parties is key to make the relationship succesful. You don’t want to get started with telling those little white lies. Ultimately, those little white lies may come to light and may expose something bigger. If nothing else, it may cause doubt in your other half about what else you’re not being truthful about. Most individuals rely on their intuition to know if someone is lying. It’s not a good thing if your other half has to go on relying on intuition to know if you are being dishonest. One key way to avoid the possiblity of being dishonest is by being completely open with your partner. By sharing your emotions with your partner, when a really critical issue comes up, it’ll be easier to disclose those difficult situations to your partner. Hopefully these few tips will help with questions in this area. Remember that trust and honesty are the two important keys to the foundation of a relationship. Stay true to your heart and it’ll never steer you wrong.
Why Don’t You Just Listen To Me?
Does this scenario seem familiar to you?
- She seems to need a listening ear.
- You care, so you say “What’s up?”
- She reveals what’s bugging her.
- You care, so you try to help.
- She reacts with, “Obviously, you don’t care!”
From the book For Men Only, they explain that smart listening tells a woman louder than almost anything else that she is known, cared for and loved. She doesn’t want you to fix it, she just wants you to listen. As a guy, it is engineered in our DNA, to be the one to fix problems in a relationship. It’s in our nature. Whether you are a male or a female, it’s important to explain to your other half what side you are on with your feelings. This has been one of the toughest concepts to explain when I work with different groups. Help your other half by telling them what you want instead of hoping they’ll figure it out. Listen to each other’s needs instead of trying to automatically fix it. This will help both of you grow as a couple.
May Is National Smile Month
When I think about smiling, I think about all the happy times I’ve had.
It’s also nice to think about the possible times that are yet to come. Smiling is one of the easiest things to share with someone. He are some reasons to smile from About.
- Smiling Makes Us Attractive – We are drawn to people who smile. There is an attraction factor.
- Smiling Changes Our Mood – Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There’s a good chance you mood will change for the better.
- Smiling Is Contagious – When someone is smiling they lighten up the room, change the moods of others, and make things happier. A smiling person brings happiness with them. Smile lots and you will draw people to you.
- Smiling Relieves Stress
- Smiling Boosts Your Immune System – When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed.
- Smiling Lowers Your Blood Pressure
- Smiling Releases Endorphins, Natural Pain Killers and Serotonin
- Smiling Lifts the Face and Makes You Look Younger
- Smiling Makes You Seem Successful – Smiling people appear more confident, are more likely to be promoted, and more likely to be approached. Put on a smile at meetings and appointments and people will react to you differently.
- Smiling Helps You Stay Positive – Stay away from depression, stress and worry by smiling.
Smiling is a great way to make yourself stand out while helping your body to function better. Smile to improve your health, your stress level, and your attractiveness. Give it a try and see what happens.
Behind Every Strong Man Is A Strong Woman
One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn’t to luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the President’s Secret Service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, “Why was he so interested in talking to you?” She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President Obama then said, “So if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant,” to which Michelle responded, “No. If I married him, he would now be the President.”
I really like this story because it shows the possible influence that one person can have over their significant other. It’s really inspiring to see how two people can push each other to be their absolute best.
Special thank you to Mallory for sharing this story with me.
Tonight Is The Night
One of the things that makes anyone feel better is a good song. One of my favorite things to do is to put on a good song when getting ready to go out. When you get that feeling that you and your friends are going to have a really good night. I like to incorporate that with a song that is equally fitting. No matter if you are heading out to a party, heading out to a club, or to the local bar, put yourself in a positive mood and enjoy yourself. This is one of the songs that really puts me in a good mood before a night out. Let me know what you think. Also let me know what are some of your favorites.
What If I Want Extraordinary?
What if fine isn’t good enough? What if I want extraordinary? -Hitch-
Work hard at your relationship. Fine shouldn’t be good enough for anyone. Work for extraordinary. A Lot of us get comfortable in our relationships. In most cases, this is when most problems occur in a relationship. If you both equally work hard that’s when things come easy. If we want to be successful, we know that we must put work into what we want. If one person starts to get complacent, it’s easier to bounce back because you have each other to lean on. Both people should expect the other to carry their own weight to make the relationship great. Shoot for extraordinary in your relationship and you’ll hardly have any problematic situations. Be your best and your relationship will follow!!
You’re The Most Important Person to You
You’re the most important person to you. It’s tough to think sometimes, especially when a lot of us have so many people around us that care. The thing is, there are those certain times, when we don’t have anyone else to turn to. We must do, what we have to do, for ourselves. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to turn to mom, dad, brother, sister even your best friend when times get tough. However, they aren’t going to be the one that ultimately feels the total happiness or sadness of the situations that you are in. Keep positive when times get tough and lean on those that help you stay strong. In the end, make sure you make you happy. That’s one thing that no one can object to. You’re the most important person to you.
Life is an eternal quest about knowing oneself. It’s time to challenge yourself, to rediscover your hidden traits, talents, and tendencies.
I Work Ouuuttt!!!
One of the most positive things that I have been able to do for myself is work out. I get to block out the negativity of the day for a few hours and relieve stress in the process. Some common results from working out are improvements of mood and boosts of energy. Not only does exercising control weight but it also promotes better sleep. Exercising is a fun activity and allows it to be done in many ways.
From the Mayo Clinic, exercise and physical activity are a great way to feel better, gain health benefits and have fun. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. If you want to lose weight or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more. Remember to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have any health concerns.
